Demonstrate an understanding of the construction and function of major diesel vehicle and equipment components.

Perform general service of major diesel vehicle and equipment components.

Diagnose mechanical malfunctions and performance problems.

Evaluate the disposition of worn parts (i.e., “usable as is,” “should be reconditioned or replaced,” etc.).

Operate precision diagnostic tools to repair vehicles and equipment.

Interpret electronic and paper repair manuals.

Demonstrate good public relations with customers, fellow employees, and the employer.

Model best practices in shop operations.

Assess overhead and labor costs in relation to profit and shop cost-saving solutions.

Display professionalism on the job.

Program Description

This program builds skill sets within the growing diesel repair and service industry. Students take part in a combination of in-class, lab, and on-site experiences. Upon completion, students will be able to perform general service of major diesel vehicle and equipment components. Coursework also includes diagnostics as well as using tools to repair vehicles and equipment.
